General
Quick in the footsteps of the Zenith 2 CZMB in its full size, came Zenith 2 Lady Fountain Pen. All this production continued since mid-1960s, and a fair number of working or even NOS pieces still can be found from the usual on-line outlets. Zenith 2 Lady is a slightly smaller pen, with its weight, reduced to 17.1 g.
Features
Its physical height including cap, is somewhat reduced by a half of one cm, with the grip section being approx. 9.7 mm in its diameter. Zenith 2 Lady Fountain Pen comes with stainless steel, fine size nib and its filler system employs a derivative of Parker Aerometric filler. The barrel material constitutes of a black resin material and its cap is made of a brushed chrome colour but stainless steel containing the Zenith 2 name is engraved at its bottom. The clip of this Zenith 2 Lady Fountain Pen is different from its full-length model and it looks very much like any fixed type standard Parker of the same period. The change of the clip design, does not make sense in our opinion, especially that the “large” Zenith 2 clip was totally unique and not a copy of the Parker usual arrow style.
Comment
Zenith 2 Lady Fountain Pen is well made and its nib delivers firm and smooth writing. Both pens are good to very good for everyday use and continue being very useable now 58 years later. They are also quite similar and build from the same if not identical materials. Their nibs are most probably identical, and produced in the same factory. In the later years, apparently some components were sourced from outside (probably PRC) so the originality and history of the CZMB pens was no longer the same.
