General
By the late 1880’s De La Rue were producing their first writing instruments. Initially, producing classic hard rubber Stylographs and Eyedroppers, the company then invented their own filling system which became very successful by 1912. Originating from circa 1940, the De La Rue Junior Fountain Pen, is equipped with Warranted 14ct gold nib. The cup and cylinder utilise a rather attractive Purple and Black Marble effect acrylic material.
Features
These pens were manufactured during WWII in late 1940s to early 1950s and when serviced properly, they still write and fill well. The De La Rue Junior Fountain Pen measures just 113mm with cap and they are not called Junior without a good reason. Its nib in 14k gold and M+ size is super smooth and apparently semi flex. When posted this pen is much easier to handle and control. Its grip section at 10.9mm will suit better someone with a much smaller hand then mine. So, if you have large hands, this pen is probably not for you.
Comment
There are quite a few of these De la Rue Junior pens being sold on Internet and at various auction sites. They usually sell around £150 or more for a good example. Even tired copies and those not working, or sold for parts, change hands at circa £120 or more. The magic of the De la Rue name still lives on, and one must hope it will continue well in to the future.
