Features
This jet-black matt anodised Sheaffer Vintage Retro 585 fountain pen was produced in the 1980s in the US, and is considered a vintage collectible today. It comes with a 14K (Au 585) medium size quality nib which possesses a degree of flexibility whilst after over 40 years in use is still very smooth. Being built as all metal, its weight is 31.1 g which is very pleasant. Our specimen is of a cartridge design but the converter use is also possible. This pen is 137 mm long and its grip section is measuring 9.6 mm. The clip is of a fixed type persuasion, gold plated and naturally includes the Sheaffer White Dot at its top end.
Comment
One of the most popular and quite rightly so, excellent designs for everyday use, the quality of this pen is easily a four star+. Its nib is simply fantastic, whilst the overall quality of workmanship is very good. Its proper closing action of the cap-cylinder junction prevents your ink from drying out, even after many weeks of this pen left in its resting mode. Collectors worldwide knows this and its Ebay prices are holding up high much better than some of its 1980s competitors.

Ink used: Parker Quink Blue-Black, France/UK
