Pelikan Model M250 Fountain Pen (1985)

Pelikan Model M250 Fountain Pen (1985) - pen

General

The Pelikan M250 was launched in 1985, initially as a black only model, followed by number of coloured variants. They were released, with their gold plated as well as solid 14k (Au585) gold nibs. There are two trim versions of Pelikan M250s, depending on the year of its release, resulting in pre-’97 and post-’97 trim versions. The pre-’97 pens are recognised by a “derby cap” top with two cap bands trim and absence of a trim on the barrel. The post-’97 pens have a crown style cap top with a single band and the gold trim at the piston knob.

Features

The M250 most popular colour versions were: Black, Burgundy, Black-Dark Blue/Green, Transparent Clear Demonstrators, Green Clear Demonstrators, Amber Clear Demonstrators, Green Marbled, Blue Marbled, Grey Marbled, also many other special editions with multiple colour combinations. The M250 clip and trim versions were either gold plated or bright chrome. The ink capacity was stated at approx. 1.2 ml and is easy to fill. Applying the test of a strong white LED light inside the M250 and also MK20 caps produces the red colour transfer light, similar if not identical to the one observed with the genuine Montblanc No. 149 and 145 caps.

Comment

M250 range went out of production after almost 20 years around 2004. A very popular design known for its reliability and smooth writing. There is good supply in the second-hand market and NOS (New Old Stock).
