General
This Vintage (c 1965) Parker 51 Burgundy Medium Fountain Pen comes with brushed stainless-steel cap & chrome plated trim including fixed type famous Parker clip. This pen is entirely UK made by The Parker Pen Company Limited and comes with 14 K solid gold medium smooth nib, and the complete filling system which is original and not restored, and is still working well, some 58 years later as it was intended.
Features
Parker recommends “to fill you should press ribbed bar firmly four times holding pen point down”. In our case even pressing just once or maximum twice does the job sufficiently for an average use. The function of the Parker ink flow governor is to meter ink to the nib at consistent flow rate. Therefore, Parker recommends clearing it when clogged if your 51 is to function efficiently. As expected, the relatively recent re-introduction of the new Parker 51 caused quite a stir within the collector’s user community. The dimensions didn’t change much, but the new 51 model is slightly longer. The new 51 barrel takes up all of that extra length, creating a new and different cap/body ratio, which in turn gives the intentional impression of a much larger pen.
Comment
For those who do like a slightly longer pen, the new 51 posts very securely, and has a comfortable grip section diameter around 10 mm where you normally expect to hold it. The entire pen, both original 51 and the new model are lightweight, at around 22.4 g.

Ink used: Parker Quink Black, France/UK
