Jinhao X350 Fountain Pen (2020)

Jinhao X350 Fountain Pen (2020) - pen

General

The Jinhao X350 Fountain Pen is quite different from the previously reviewed X159 model, despite being a little shorter and “slimmer” it is noticeably heavier, approaching 32.3 g. This is due to the simple fact that is made of metal rather than acrylic. The x350 is also significantly more expensive by more than 50% (54.9% in fact). When X350 was launched, it received a high number of very good reviews internationally and incidentally being immediately linked to the established MB146 for good measure.

Features

We tried two versions of X350, the first one was fitted with extra fine gold-plated No. 6 nib, whilst the second X350 came with the “bend” nib made of the same material. Both nibs’ clams to be plated with 18k GP (gold plating), whilst Jinhao X350 converters are similar to X159 model. The X350 is well built and is a smooth writer, which in its price class stands out for its build quality. Our X159 has EF/F nib and I wished they also made M nib, the “bend” nib also worked well and seems to be useful for drawings. If you like the MB146 for its size (length of 146 mm or 161mm when posted with lower weight of 25g), then this pen is probably good for you, also available at a fraction of its cost.

Comment

X350 is probably the best Jinhao writing instrument currently and most of objective reviewers agree with this statement. Its price/performance ratio is special. The “bend” nib version of X350 is just a useful appliance and not a daily writer. Still, we are happy with its performance for what it was built for.
