General
Those of us looking for an oversized fountain pen continue finding remarkable pieces from Jinhao. Their plastic materials may not be “precious” or similar quality made in Germany or Japan, but then their acquisition price is also different. These pens listed on the Amazon or directly on Ebay sell at £10-11 only. The Jinhao No. 9019 is a fine pen which simply delivers its very good performance out of the box.
Features
The Jinhao No. 9019 fountain pen height is 147 mm, its grip size is 15 mm and the width measured at the bottom of its cap is 19 mm. For its oversized style design, Jinhao 9019 model is relatively lightweight at 32.2 g., making it lighter than Montblanc 149 by almost 5 g. It comes with a fine nib size at 0.50 mm but in reality, it performs more like medium size nib. Its material is gold plated steel with Iridium tipping. The filling system is very impressive with the “double” converter size of 75×9.4 mm, whilst the use of cartridges is possible, but why one might ask. A very large converter by any standard, which hopefully means very large cartridges down the line to match the pen
Comment
We liked this pen a lot, in most of its characteristics and other aspects including naturally the amazing price. One little point must be mentioned, that the turning end of the converter is quite loose and it rattles inside the barrel when writing fast or slow. Not being lucky enough to get any sense of solution to this problem from the PRC seller, we resolved this problem with a very small piece of cotton wool inserted to the bottom of barrel. The Jinaho 9019 comes in a range of colours, plain or transparent, we preferred black so as the result, the white cotton piece is now invisible…
