General
Jinhao 9036 Inheritance natural wood fountain pen is a handmade pen, produced from fine hardwood in several colours with brass gold plated trims. We obtained this pen when it was recommended as a less expensive alternative to a Conklin, and found that though the price was much less than half of the other pen, it is certainly comparable in performance and quality of workmanship.
Features
The barrel and cap material are natural wood, and in this model, it is stained in matt jet black. The nib is bicolour mainly gold & “bright silver” and also magnet friendly which confirms its steel base material. It states that nib is 18K gold plated (18KGP), No.7, medium with Jinhao logo. The pen is 142 mm long and its weight is 30g. The section diameter is c12 mm and gripping this fountain pen is good. The pen clip is quite stiff and not flexible as with all Jinhao writing instruments. For our tests we have used Parker Quink Blue-Black ink with absolutely satisfactory results, just see the result below.
Comment
I must admit, that I always wanted wooden pen. I tested it with a Jinhao converter only as cartridges were not available. It writes both English and apparently Chinese characters smoothly. Absolutely no bleeding or ghosting. Writing Chinese requires different features from a pen and ink than writing standard western letters. The pen is working fine and is strongly recommended, irrespective of its price.
