Conway Stewart & Company Ltd established in London, is a British manufacturing company of writing instruments, founded in 1905 by Frank Jarvis and Thomas Garner. The company became notable for its fountain pens, although it also produced ballpoint pens. Conway Stewart was placed in receivership in 2014, with its stocks and assets acquired by Bespoke British Pens Ltd., who owns the rights to this brand since then.
Features
This hand-made pen is a really a popular example of the No. 388 Conway Stewart range produced during the WWII time at around 1940. It is finished in Green and Black marble with Gold filled trim to the clip and three cap rings. The imprint is clear and legible and the pen is still in very good overall condition. The gold plate to the cap rings, lever and clip is in excellent order with no wear at the edges. The clip comes with the embossed Conway Stewart brand logo. The pen has an original Medium CS semi flex 14 k gold nib which writes very smoothly. It has been recently fully restored and is frequently in daily use.

Despite its age of over 80 years, the 388 series pens if properly looked after, work well and are very popular amongst collectors worldwide. The brand and various top models of Conway Stewart influenced many other pen manufacturers outside UK, enough to borrow some of their designs. Nowadays, a wide range of fountain pens with the Conway Stewart brand are manufactured and marketed by Bespoke British Pens Ltd.
