General
Senator Pen Company historically used to be known as Merz & Krell. Their pen manufacturing business originated in 1920 from Gross-Bieberau in Germany. They also made well known Melbi and Diplomat fountain pens. In 1970s, they made quality grade one Pelikans under contract. The quality and reliability of their pens is well known including their popular Senator Windsor range.
Features
We have several Senators still in our collection, most of which we’ve had for many years. This means, from the before the pre-internet days, when one would visit pen shops, looking for new writing instruments. All Senator Windsor pens we have, are of the piston filler type and are equipped with the mandatory and really useful ink window. A large number of them were historically sold all over Europe, judging from the state of the current second user Internet market, where the supply seems to be quite reliable including many NOS (New Old Stock). Now that the market price of them has dropped to a more competitive level, the main problem to overcome is pen colour conservatism (most pens we encounter are of jet-black colour but not always).
Comment
These pens were always superbly engineered and impeccably manufactured They are a solid, well built and reliable fountain pen. Their nibs and feeds, perform reliably and smoothly, being nice and soft, without being flexible to give a good variation in writing. They are cheaper than most German pens with one or two exceptions. Strong recommendation, to try to even like them.

Ink used: Parker Quink Blue-Black, France/UK
