Parker Duofold Centennial Fountain Pen (pre-1970)

Parker Duofold Centennial Fountain Pen (pre-1970) - pen

General

Parker Duofold is an emblem of Parker’s long heritage. A symbol widely known for over 90 years, and certainly since 1921. Duofold fountain pen remains the most distinguished fountain pen in Parker’s lineage. Our own Parker Centennial Duofold was supplied new, long ago by Loft Pens (www.loftpens.co.uk) and is frequently used by myself for a number of years.

Features

It is a quite large fountain pen (un-capped length is very similar to the MB 149), constructed with an red/orange resin cap and barrel, palladium plated trim, 18k (Au750) two tone bi-colour gold nib, supplemented by a wide range of different nib sizes. It can be used with Parker cartridges, or an converter (Parker supplies two of them with the new original purchase). All Parker Duofold fountain pens are fitted with an 18k (Au750) gold nib. The Centennial model is fitted with a twin-channelled ink feed and collector system and the smaller international version is fitted with a single channelled ink feed and collector system. One surprising thing which I noticed in my otherwise wonderful Centennial is that the circular badge “Parker Duofold” came off easily from the top of the pen’s cap after a couple of years, being attached to the main cap body by a dried then double-sided sticky tape.

Comment

These pens were superbly engineered and impeccably manufactured, considered by many as a classic writing instrument that will last a lifetime. Updated for 2016, the Duofold still offers the wide range of standard Parker nib options.
