Fountain Pens

Amor Nobile
In the vast landscape of various writing instruments, Amor Nobile, brings to us a gently curated collection of fountain pens with a touch of nostalgia. The oldest pen here is over 90 years old and it remains in the hands of the same family, of its first and original owner for most of its life. It survived the dangerous days of WWII and the Cold War. It is still fully useable at present. Thank you very much Pelikan for your classic Model 100. In fact, there are other pens here, some of them first released over 50 years ago, but still in daily use, as well as some of them remaining in current modern production. Amor Nobile pens will survive hopefully, as curated here forever, as these classics are still in high demand in the hands of a new generation. This creates the phenomenon of lasting value, not only to collectors but also to anyone who admires purity of style, highest quality, a history of writing instruments and its provenance. We gave the spotlight to the icons of the past, still surviving and to some others we believe, can become icons soon or in the near future.

Amor Poetico
The fountain pens with classic nibs made before WWII and even after, gave the writer the ability to produce elegantly written letters and documents with variety of lines. The creation of written text was then quite natural and did not require anything extra special. Therefore, the surviving best and most interesting writing instruments of this era, could still be used and should if possible be protected for the future generations. Because of their character they are introduced here as Amor Poetico (Art Deco). The revival of interest in fountain pens and vintage classic pens, can be analysed at several different levels. As far as some collectors go, they talk about collecting the …un-inked pens. But both modern, postmodern and any classic pens should be used and cared for properly. In order to reach a happy level for those learning, selecting, collecting, identifying, acquiring and enjoying, we at least temporarily are leaving off, the weird wonderful and mega expensive museum objects – pens for specialists and experts, will not be covered here. There are lots more popular classic car owners with 1960s Mini Coopers, MGBs, MGAs and Austin Healeys, then there are with 1939s Bugatti’s or Ferraris!

Amor Affidabile
Amor Affidabile is known to be trustworthy and reliable, able to be trusted, good enough or safe to be used on the road or in fact almost anywhere and naturally highly reliable. These characteristics of our Amor Affidabile by definition, are very rarely questioned. In the complex world of fountain pens, these totally operational characteristics are priceless as many of us knows already, learning from experience the hard way. Amor Affidabile is clearly safeguarding our hard-earned reputation. This does not mean that his/her siblings such as: Amor Nobile, Amor Poetico and Amor Furioso do not possess these characteristics, dare we say qualities. Of course, they also have these as well, but the major characteristics, their market and design goals and objectives are somewhat different. Reliable simply means that the pen consistently will behave in a certain way. Trustworthy means that the pen can be given responsibility for writing with high degree of confidence. Naturally, there are some unexpected exceptions, such as those experienced by His Majesty and recently witnessed by millions on television. Amor Affidabile on that day was in a serious trouble.

Amor Furioso & Affidabile
Not considering properly the important Amor Furioso in the A-Z of Fountain Pen Universe, would clearly be little short of the counterfactual or imagination whilst treating always, history and the present time of other fountain pens with the absolutely due respect deserved.
In 2016, Emma Gonzales of The China Daily reported that a US $ 341-million fountain pen market was set to be bigger in China, increasing at 7% PA according to Euromonitor International.
Parker Pen Co, one of the world’s largest and oldest producers of writing instruments, first entered the Chinese market in the 1980s. Nowadays, this country is one of the group’s largest sources of revenue. The U.S.A., Atlanta- based Newell Rubbermaid Co, owner of Parker, expects sales of their writing instruments to register an 8-10 percent growth since 2016. “China is a market with a high potential and bright prospects”, explained Rachel Goh an associate brand manager at Newell. “The sales performance is increasing year by year”.
What were luxury pens in the past are now affordable lifestyle accessories that fit well with China’s gift-giving business culture. Small wonder Parker generated the total of 400-million yuan (US $ 62 million) in sales revenue in that year. Parker which was established in 1888, sells its complete portfolio of products in China, with the high-end Sonnet and IM range of pens being the preferred choices among Chinese consumers, particularly as a gift choice in the country’s urban areas.
