Kin Sin -Jin Xing Fountain Pen (post 1970s)

Kin Sin -Jin Xing Fountain Pen (post 1970s) - pen

General

The PRC writing instruments have been available globally for many years. Digital channels such as internet-based marketing have accelerated this process multi fold. It is largely based on combinations of unstructured and structured on-line information, also available through the traditional retail outlets. There is also another type, informally known as semi structured channels. The example of fountain pen shown here is of the PRC origin and sold in volume in the UK since the late 1970s.

Features

Not surprising, this Kin Sin -Jin Xing Fountain Pen is very similar to Parker Model 51, which most users know well as this pen was launched and sold worldwide since circa 1965. The vintage (c1965) Parker 51 as well as the PRC Kin Sin-Jin model are both finished in identical burgundy colour and come with brushed stainless-steel cap & chrome plated trim including a fixed type of famous Parker stye clip (no arrow). The Model 51 was entirely UK made by The Parker Pen Company Limited and was built with 14 K solid gold nib option, and the standard Parker filling system, whilst Kim Sin-Jin has stainless steel nib in either medium or fine configurations and effectively uses an identical Parker filling system.

Comments

Despite obvious similarities, Kin Sin-Xing pen is very slightly smaller and its weight is lower. It works well and is reasonably well built with the exception of the cap/cylinder locking system, which badly scratches the grip section, unlike the Parker Model 51.
