General
The Sheaffer Sailor Sentinel is the result of an agreed and tested collaboration with the very well-known Japanese pen manufacturer, Sailor, in the early to mid-1980s. The “Sentinel” part of the pen brand name is linked back to Sheaffer models produced many decades earlier.
Features
These pens having being spray lacquered not always survive in “as new” or excellent condition especially, if they previously experienced some of the usual writing instrument’s hard life. Polishing them is absolutely not recommended. Expect therefore some signs of use. Our example started its life in Japan with a very deep dark grey lacquered finish and a gold-filled clip bearing a stylised Sheaffer-Sailor “S”. True to its origins it carries the Sheaffer name along with “Japan” included on the back of the cap. The cap is a push-to-fit type closing with a gentle satisfying click. Originally the pen came with an ink cartridge filler, but the pen can now use the contemporary modern Sailor ink converter. Our pen is fitted with an original F-4 nib with a heart shaped breather hole and engraved with the Sheaffer brand name. The nib is made of non-magnetic material and is gold plated.
Comment
This pen is well known as a smooth writer. Probably it can be either medium or fine in its size. It can be safely posted, then its length would be 145 mm. Its balancing in my hand is close to perfection.
