LAMY Safari Vista Demonstrator Fountain Pen (post 2004)

LAMY Safari Vista Demonstrator Fountain Pen (post 2004) - pen

General

One of the most popular pens of the last and at least 30 years. When the Safari fountain pen first arrived back in 1980, little did LAMY realise it would gather an international cult amongst people of different ages. Well known for its reliability, ergonomic grip, Bahaus-inspired design and style. Our Safari Vista was purchased in February 2023 at Rymans in West London, so also was separately purchased, its optional Lamy Z28 converter.

Features

My first impression of this Lamy Safari Vista was, how easy was to grip it and comfortable to hold. Its retail price in February was a bit of surprise, based on remembering it well during the previous year at about of half of the winter 2023 retail cost. Its main features are as follows: transparent ABS plastic with chrome trim, stainless steel medium size nib, comes with one blue ink cartridge or can be fitted with LAMY converter, sturdy largish chrome plated metal clip, ergonomic grip section design, 2- year LAMY warranty, dimensions when closed: L-140mm x D-12.5mm and when fully posted: L-165mm x D-12.5mm, last not least its weight of just 19g. Our LAMY Safari Vista pen offers very good writing control as experienced during my daily use over the last 5 months. The pen is very easy to clean with water and can be used with the wide range of available atrament colours, limited only by the user imagination and available access to necessary bottles of ink.

Comment

We strongly recommend this ultra-modern but now already classic Heidelberg based design to properly try and like it. Following almost half of the year of using it in totally varied environments, and not always on quality paper, the pen passed all the intended and not always intended tests.
