General
Aurora is an Italian manufacturer of fine writing instruments, fountain pens and writing paper, founded in 1919 by Isaia Levi. The company’s products are still manufactured in their original factory in Turin in northern Italy.
Features
Aurora Marco Polo Fountain Pen has a good grip, balance and good feel in the hand. Best of all, the pen is easy to maintain, clean, and use with either cartridges or a converter. The Marco Polo range was introduced in 1982, replacing its predecessor also slimline design called Hastil launched around 1970. This pen has very modern look and feel, and it was always intended for everyday use. Even there is no such thing, as an “architect pen”, Marco Polo model was considered as one. Its nib existed either as an 18K solid gold, or simply gold plated and for some people reminded them of Lamy Safari nib. Naturally only as far as, its design shape goes. Our Aurora Marco Polo nib is nominally M size but perhaps could be described as Fine/Medium as this is much closer to the truth.
Comment
The main selling point of this pen is in its simplicity of everything, beginning with barrel and cap look and feel and finishing on the nib and feed, which do their job very well and as it should be. Our Marco Polo is 41 years old by now, and I am sure will easily last another 40 years, even in everyday use including travels. Marco Polo was an Italian merchant, explorer and writer who travelled through Asia along the Silk Road.
