Waterman Vintage Fountain Pen (1980s-1990s)

Waterman Vintage Fountain Pen (1980s-1990s) - pen

General

Discontinued by now, this very model of the Vintage pen by Waterman, is currently seriously overpriced on Ebay. It was much cheaper even 3-5 years ago. The marbled versions are even more expensive. When I received this pen from a friend, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of workmanship, the nib itself and the slip-on cap which both close and post very securely. When I saw this pen last, its price was less than £40. The quality resin-based pen body is professionally finished and absolutely not “cheap” looking.

Features

Waterman fountain pen known as Vintage or Phileas is made in Teal resin with black and gold trim. This is the authentic Phileas; it is quite rare to find them in this colour. Its brand logo is embossed on its gold plate. The cap reads “Waterman France”. This pen normally works with Waterman standard cartridges or ink converter where this is preferred or required. The nib is normally in bi-colour stainless steel but on some fountain pens, was fitted with a solid 14k gold nib. It most often reads: ” Waterman Paris – M” under Waterman “W” logo. The Cap closes with a loud click even when applying minimal closing pressure. Its clip is gold plated and positively spring loaded, again with Waterman logo on its top. This model Waterman Vintage Fountain Pen was in production for a decade from 1980s to end of 1990s. It should not be discontinued.

Comment

I am adding this pen permanently to my personal Amor Poetico collection. I just like it for its simple and honest design and good quality finish.
