S.T. Du Pont Paris Pinstripe Fountain Pen (1999-2000s)

S.T. Du Pont Paris Pinstripe Fountain Pen (1999-2000s) - pen

General

As Napoleon III’s photographer and a pioneering spirit with a keen eye for aesthetics, in 1872, aged just 25, Simon Tissot Du Pont opened his first shop in Paris. This is a Classic S.T. Dupont Paris Gold Plated Pinstripe Vintage Fountain Pen.

Features

Made in France it has a solid 18K (Au750) gold nib, in Medium size. It worked well under our test. When compared to the Cartier les Must de Stylos Oval Model 1985 vintage, it is circa 18mm longer and therefore much more comfortable to hold. Interestingly with its cup closed S.T. Du Pont it is slightly shorter than Cartier les Must Stylos by some 4 mm. So superficially, both pens, cap and barrel are bright yellow gold plated in the same 18K colour, for some people they are externally similar. But not quite, as here the similarity ends, as both the nibs, feeds and the ink flow systems are completely different. Both ink cartridges in are made in international style, and preferably S.T. Du Pont converters are necessary to obtain. Both pen’s weight are almost identical at 24 g. The fixed type non flex clip is 55 mm long and includes on its side a unique identification number. in our case it was: H1JD99.

Comment

With a new S.T. Du Pont factory located beside Lake Annecy, apparently Europe’s purest lake, located in the Haute-Savoie region of France, the S.T. Dupont products are manufactured in one of France’s most remarkable natural environments. If you are lucky to acquire a mint condition second user pen, we consider it at present as a very good value for money.
